Glen Innes to Tamaki Drive - Te Ara Ki Uta Ki Tai Boardwalks

Client: Waka Kotahi, New Zealand Transport Agency

Contractor: Oxcon/CLL

Status: Completed 2022

Te Ara Ki Uta Ki Tai, meaning the path of land and sea, is a 7 km long shared path connecting Auckland’s eastern suburbs to the city centre. As part of section two of the project, Novare Design was engaged as the structural engineers to provide efficient designs for three separate boardwalks totalling over 770m in length.  The use of lightweight steel screw piles helped with the ease and speed of construction as much of the site was difficult to access for heavy equipment.

The boardwalks successfully opened to the public in mid-2022 and are helping to provide an important link in Auckland’s cycle network.
