The SH1 Ellerslie Acoustic Barrier project involved construction of 1km of noise walls adjacent to the Southern Motorway in Ellerslie.

Novare carried out the structural engineering design of the concrete panels and foundations. Initial concept designs for foundations included ground-planted steel posts and conventionally reinforced strip footings. The preferred strip footing concept was refined further using steel-fibre-reinforced-concrete (SFRC) to replace most of the reinforcing bars and significantly increase on-site construction efficiencies.

Novare also carried out the structural engineering for the feature Taurapa and Tauihu elements, utilising laser-cut steel panels.
