|The Millwater project is a major new residential subdivision located near Orewa, North Auckland.
The Orewa River Bridge was central to the subdivision development as it provided access a haul road and allowed earth to be relocated around the large site.
The bridge consists of 6no. 21m long precast concrete spans, supported by twin pile/column reinforced concrete piers.
The second bridge, Millwater North, is located on the same carriageway as the Orewa River Bridge and completes the local road; providing a secondary route from Silverdale to Orewa.
Millwater North Bridge utilises the same general form and appearance as the Orewa River Bridge, although only 3no. 17m long spans were required.
Despite the standard, cost effective form of the bridge structures, they incorporate cleverly detailed architectural edge girders and shaped pier caps to vastly improve aesthetic appearance.
