Richard has 20 years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering projects. This includes:
- Civil and structural design engineering experience including project management, contract management and construction monitoring on railway and road bridge projects, retaining walls, culverts and building projects, seismic upgrade and strengthening, load rating of bridge and culvert structures, and swept path analysis of over-dimension loads;
- Building structural engineering experience in London, United Kingdom, including the design and construction supervision of commercial and residential new build and refurbishment projects in the United Kingdom and north Africa;
- Structural design engineering and construction monitoring experience for buildings, retaining structures and civil structures, working in Wellington, NZ;
- Master of Engineering research project at the University of Canterbury into the magnitude of liquefaction induced lateral earth pressure forces imposed on bridge piers.
Richard’s experience covers the range of elements required in construction projects, including civil / structural engineering design and development, directing techincal staff on project work, tender processes, project management, contract management and construction supervision.
